Frequently Asked Questions:
Frequently asked questions about water quality, water treatment, solar power and emergency generators.
What Does a Reverse Osmosis System Do?
Reverse Osmosis drinking water systems use water pressure to force water through a membrane that removes all dissolved solids that are larger than a water molecule. A reverse osmosis system should remove 95% or more of total dissolved solids from your drinking water. These systems are usually hooked up under a sink or near a water treatment system and run to a faucet and a fridge for easily accessible drinking water.
What is Problem Water?
Problem water is classified by the EPA as any water with more than 5 parts per million of calcium in the water as well as any other contaminate present. Many problem water sources have a rotten egg smell, bacteria, iron, heavy metals or large amounts of staining in the water. To fix everything but the calcium we recommend using a combination of equipment specifically designed for your water. That is why we request a water test be done on your specific water before finding you the right system.
What is DIY Solar?
DIY or Do It Yourself solar is a great way to save money on a solar project while also getting all the benefits of having a solar company help you with your installation. This means we ship you everything you need for your solar installation to your build site for a single fee. We are usually able to do this anywhere in the lower 48 United States for as low as $1.60/watt of power. This means that you save up to 50% on the installation of your solar system by doing it yourself. If you need help with permitting or Net Metering Agreements we can also help for a small fee, meaning you have full control over your cost of building your solar system.
How Safe is Well Water?
In general well water in the Ozarks is safe to drink and bathe in, however it is recommended that you get your well tested periodically for bacteria and other contaminants. A simple UV light can many times work as a safe guard against many forms of bacteria that can inhabit wells locally.
What is a Water Softener?
Water softeners are a type of water treatment equipment that removes calcium, often called hardness, from your water and helps to eliminate lime scale build up on home equipment like water heaters, dishwashers and faucets. Water softeners use salt or potassium salts to regenerate and clean themselves usually on a timed or water usage basis.
Can Solar Reduce My Electric Bill?
For most customers a whole home solar system will reduce their electric bill by 75-100% except for meter fees. This usually translates to a customer seeing a savings in as little as 4 years or as many as 7 years depending on the utility company and the price your are paying for your electricity.
